The BKKS was founded in 1970 and is the only organisation actively working to promote your hobby across the UK. There has never been a better time to get involved, either as an individual member or through your local Section.

As an individual member, your benefits include:

  • Access to the Health Standards Officers for helpful advice on filtration, water quality and other matters about keeping your Koi, together with help on the diagnosis and treatment of Koi health issues.

  • The new BKKS website, which is a large and up-to-date source of information on current issues including information from breeders and hobbyists in Japan and many articles on all aspects of Koi keeping.
  • Being able to call on the Society to help with any problems that may occur.
  • Access to the JSC Training course – the ultimate guide to Koi appreciation in the UK.
  • Having your input and say on how you want to see the Society run, putting your ideas to a listening Council, and voting on changes to the society at the AGM.
  • A reduced entry price together with early entry to the BKKS National Show on production of your membership card.
  • Reduced prices and discounts on certain Koi products from some dealers and manufacturers, on production of your membership card.
  • The chance to be part of a national Koi community working together for the best that can be achieved for all aspects of Koi Keeping. This includes being part of a fighting team that employs a barrister, using Society funds, to represent Koi Keepers at governmental level, in order to have their voice heard regarding the DEFRA issues such as Koi shows and dealers.
  • A Society newsletter that will be emailed to BKKS members three times a year.
