On my kings lynn koi filter i sometimes used filter foams or a piece of jap mat across the exit as the water leaves the second bay. You have to be careful though as when the wool or foam starts to block the water level in the filter starts to back up. In an ideal world you would have the wool in the last chamber before returning to the pond so that the wool polishes the water but on this filter you cannot do this because of the aereated k1. Sometimes i wondered if the last chamber should of been left static k1 as this would be even better but it would be harder to clean and it does state on kings lynn koi website that you needed an airpump to fluidize the k1 in the last chamber.
