Karlie, If you can set-up as Bottom Drain or even side Drain if you have to, that would be the way to go.
Yes you will obviously have to support the tank of the floor for BD but I have had set-ups in the past with Pump Fed to Filter and had damaged fish due to them knocking themselves on the Oase Pump.

Re: ADVICE ON IBC TANK
This is my one…
it has a homemade airated 2″ bottom drain and K1 filters.
Its been up and running for a year now but has never had any fish in it….
I added small UV on the return and fishless cycled the media but it will ahve died back by now.
If i ever need to use it then i will steal some media from my main filter..

Re: ADVICE ON IBC TANK
I bought mine already done off a lad on here last year.
It doesnt have a bottom drain, the pump sits on the bottom. I didnt see a problem with this at all and its far easier to do.
The tank is wrapped in central heatinh boiler insulation, then boarded out in plywood. I bought a sheet of polycarb from b and q for the lid. The filter is a hose lock job. Its pants but it did the job. I had a titan 3000l feeding it.
I had a manifold on my air pump for the main pond so i took a feed off that and stuck an air stone in the ibc. The more air the better ime, i did have a small air pump from a fish tank and it didnt seem to do much at all. With the bigget pump on, it looked like a jacuzzi so the fish never sat still. More movement, more hunger, more food, more growth… Or that was my thinking.
I put about 10 fish in, all between 10-15cm around Oct. I kept the temps sensible and did give them a ‘winter’ during the really cold spells. Prob about 12 degs at the worst. After Jan/Feb i took the temps back up to around 20 degs using a 300w fish tank heater sat on the bottom. During which time i was feeding 6+ times a day and cleaning the filter sponges every night. I even had to add a box of k1 that i used as a shower to lower nitrites. At the peak temps of 25 degs the growth was noticible each week.
I turned the heat off around April to climatise them back down before they went into the pond and they were all around 30cm. They were all cheap fish so i was well happy with the growth.
I may turn it back on this year and get some better quality little’uns to grow.
