Bakki shower as my only filter???
Hi guys, I have a question regarding filtration, I used to have a large multibay and vortex running my 2,800 gallon pond, I currently have a four tier shower with 100 litres of crystal bio in it as an extra to the multibay. I have just taken out the multibay filter with the intension of building a 1meter diameter, 4′ deep vortex, then pumping 25,000 litres per hour through this and over my shower for bio. My question, would a shower with 4-5 boxes (40-50kgs) of BHM and the same flow rate be able to handle my pond without the vortex?? I am reasonably stocked and feed steadily throughout the warmer months about 2-300g of a high protein food per day. I will also be putting in a trickle in/out of around 7-8 litres per hour to keep the DOCs down. Opinions please? Thank you.
My pond… 2500gallon, concrete block, render and pond paint, 1 bottom drain, mechanical filtration under re-construction as of Christmas 2012, 30,000 litres to a 3kw elecro heater then to a four tier shower containing crystal bio.
