At the risk of causing a stir.

As of the last time i ordered Coppens food off them the prices were:-

Staple EF – £26.44
Grower EF – £27.64
W/Germ – £30.04
Health EF – £30.04
Mix (OSW) £39.06
Orange EF – £42.06
Spirulina – £45.06
Top Koi – £54.08

This was direct from them and a minimum order of 1000 euros. Delivered to a single UK delivery address. We bulk bought as a group of koi hobbyists and split it once it landed.

Suggest you contact Coppens for an up to date price / suppliers.

DO NOT OVERPAY for what is in essence a cheap food!

Back then Aaron @ Worthing koi used to be fairly reasonable with him only doubling the price per 15kg rather than tripling it or more if you REALLY want Coppens.

Do the price per kg and then compare it. If your going to end up paying say equivalent of £90 for 15kg of wheatgerm then you would be MUCH better off paying an extra £10 or so (guessing) for say a product from:-

Hikari
Takazumi
JPD

Or even for the same kind of / maybe slightly less money you could have

Koyoshi
Koi No Yohei W/Germ
Kusuri

All of which are IMO better value for your money.

Regards,
Greg.

Hi Greg,

Not one for disagreeing or arguing with people, but after watching the latest “Kevin Ellis Video”

http://vimeo.com/m/52076761

I find it odd, that for someone with so much money, and high end koi, he would feed Coppens, if its as bad as you claim??????

Why would someone (where money issues aren’t really a problem), feed the cheaper end food, and not (as you claim better food), for just a smaller amount of money more?

Kevin Ellis seems to spend £XXXX’s on filters / Koi, etc etc etc, but uses Coppens food…..? It can’t be that bad then????

Just a thought

I think we’ve been here before? And even after all the posts and topics, I for one can’t say I understand the difference in foods, and why some cost 4 or 5 times more than others. Unless I’m missing something, it seems to be a bit of a mystery……unless nobody wants to tell us the full ingredients and why a tub of food should cost £100?

Lee,

If you read that them you have misunderstood the post i made. My post was directed at THE COST to the public of this brand of food. I find tripling the price of something freely available to the public naughty. The prices i quoted above were to us with no mention of trade etc and what is in fact quite a small quantity so i don’t know if you bought more / got trade prices it would be cheaper – meaning more profit.

Everyone is a koi hobbyist the end of the day and makes their own choices about the food they feed their koi. End of the day you will not convince people one way or the other and i am not interested in trying to be honest

However,

The post above is right i am certain that he made an informed choice and i am certain he will have paid around the prices for 15kg as per my post above.

Regards,
Greg.

Hello All
i have been feeding coppens for quite a while now.
And normally when i change my koi over onto another food i have extra waste ..
I have’nt noticed any change in the amount of waste they produce.
No changes in feeding habits 6 feeds a day and its gone in seconds.
I have been very impressed with growth on some of my younger koi ..one putting on 4 inches this summer.
All in all ..very pleased with it:D
I use to feed my koi on medikoi and saki hikari .. would i change back .. no
I have a good supply … and if anyone is willing to give it a try, i can do a 15kg sack for £45.
