Kumonryu are doitsu (scale less) fish which has black pattern emerging on a white back ground, Beni Kumonryu have red markings on them, Ideally with a kohaku pattern – beni Kumonryu are Kumonryu crossed with kohaku. Young fish develop different patterns over the year so what you buy you do not end up with when an adult, according to 1 website you can not buy a “tategoi” Kumonryu as there is no way of gauging how and where its going to change.
My guess is that fish is Beni Kumonryu – fish below is beni Kumonryu
