Koi Quest

Sad day as Koi Quest site has been taken down. Seems lots of hassle has been going on and work being taken without permission so it is understandable, but still very sad for fish welfare as that site was a wealth of knowledge and really helped more than vets can.

Re: Koi Quest

No it isn’t up and running, Duncan has called it a day and taken it down sadly. There is only his sales section from his home page. If you have the forum in your computer it takes you to only 3 topics. I thought it was a hiccup on his site BUT he replied by message and said he has taken it off and only doing meds sales.

I do not have any intention of this being a slanging match and those even entertaining the idea I hope the mods will just remove the posts as he has given us all great information for Koi welfare on the medical side of the hobby.

I agree it seems there are egos in the hobby but they are everywhere and I am NOT even interested in that side of it as like the other poster it’s all about getting the best for your Koi.

I hope that over time perhaps he will rethink things and try to address how to stop his material being used and posted without permission. A link is what I have used and directed people to his site in the past.

Re: Koi Quest

Very sad I used to look at koi quest a lot but was never a member so I am now left in the cold due to these jokers, I was also a member of the site in question because in the early days it was fun but left a while a go because I think what they did was wrong they were good and imforative at the start but seemed to have changed very much over the last few months and it no longer the same site.
What they have been doing recently is wrong the copying and framing of sites along with the stupid and obviously false parodies of well known and well-respected koi people is just childish and stupid I will never forgive them for being party to this travisty.

This is not the same as copying a music track or a program you have already brought for your own benefit and as a back up, this is copying it and then publishing some one else’s work online for everyone else to take and either passing it off as your own or at the least implicitly saying the author has given you permission to reproduce it, without giving any real credit to the author, the iframing is even worse as it makes the originaly author pay for the bandwith for them to take their work without their permission and to me is a crime no more or less.

Link to ten copyright law myths this I have posted on “them there” site months ago so they did know about it, but they don’t care or are too stupid to take notice espeiclly 4, 5, 6,7,8, and 9.

Not slanging just saying my piece.

Re: Koi Quest

Very sad day ..
But i totally understand where Dunc is coming from ..
I really wish people would respect others work no matter what it is.
I have been on the site and myself have mentioned about only posting links to Duncans stuff ..the page was removed and the link put in place, and this was months ago .. but then all this has happened since.
So they do know but choose to ignore ..
Duncan has spent a long time getting all the info together and putting it into words for us. I dread to think how many hours and the money involved in doing all this. so credit should be where credit is due.
Lets face it without Duncan most of us would only know a fraction of how to treat sick koi and the hundreds of people who have had Dunc’s advice in one form or another even if it is just passing his knowledge on..i think we have all at some stage or another praised Duncan for his book and reccommended it to others.

I really wish Duncan would re-consider the closure of the site and maybe even introduce a fee for joining with specific rules for anyone.
Somehow i doubt people that want to take his work for free will want to pay a joining fee to see it in the first place.
